Published on April 11, 2020, the guidebook of COVID-19 Outbreak Hospital Response Strategy is a compilation of measures taken by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine (SAHZU) to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

A product of collaboration with the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation, the guidebook is aimed at sharing experiences with a wider audience and providing it with useful references. The English version is available now, with translations in more foreign languages on the horizon.
The Hangzhou-based SAHZU is a renowned general hospital in China with a history of 150 years. It not only undertakes the screening and treatment of large numbers of fever patients, but also sends multiple medical teams to support severely-affected areas, gathering precious experience.
The guidebook consists of four chapters. The first one examines the norms of a high-performance organization.
Chapter two elaborates on practical know-how for real situations and factors, including staff, space, medical procedures, hospital-acquired infections, general mobilization of medical resources, telemedicine and relevant online support, IT-enabled administration and coordinated prevention and control efforts by government departments and hospitals.
Experiences from the frontline in Wuhan are laid out in the third chapter, covering administration, precautions taken by staff, hospital management, nursing care and psychological support.
Chapter four lists the mechanisms and relevant information regarding a global response to the pandemic.
