April 16: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 15, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 46 new cases of confirmed infections (34 imported cases and 12 indigenous cases, 5 in Guangdong province, 4 in Heilongjiang province and 3 in Beijing municipality), 4 new cases of suspected infections (3 imported cases in Shanghai municipality and 1 indigenous case in Beijing), and no deaths. 76 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 521 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 18.
As of 24:00 on April 15, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps had reported 1,534 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 636 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 898 confirmed cases (including 46 in serious condition) and 61 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on April 15, the National Health Commission had received 82,341 reports of confirmed cases and 3,342 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 77,892 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,107 confirmed cases (including 95 in serious condition) and 63 suspected cases. So far, 722,007 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,484 are now under medical observation.
On April 15, Hubei province reported no new cases of confirmed infections, no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 33 patients (all in Wuhan) were released from hospital after being cured.
As of 24:00 on April 15, Hubei had reported 67,803 cases of confirmed infections (including 50,008 in Wuhan) and 3,222 deaths (including 2,579 in Wuhan). In all, 64,435 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 47,283 in Wuhan. There still remained 146 confirmed cases (all in Wuhan), with 38 in serious condition (all in Wuhan). There were no suspected cases.
On April 15, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 64 new asymptomatic cases (including 3 imported cases). 49 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 12 imported cases) and 6 became confirmed cases (including 2 imported cases). As of 24:00 on April 15, 1,032 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 217 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on April 15, 1,456 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 1,016 in Hong Kong (4 had been dead and 459 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 45 in Macao (16 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 395 in Taiwan (6 had been dead and 137 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
