With a total investment of 6.08 billion yuan ($857.21 million), 10 projects in Xi'an High-tech Industries Development Zone (XHTZ) in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, started construction on March 29, according to XHTZ officials.

Among the slew of projects, the relocation of Xi'an No 1 Hospital and a public health center will greatly ease the tension of medical resources in the southern area of Xi'an, with 1,500 beds planned and new facilities that will be able to handle a daily volume of more than 6,000 outpatients.

Officials said the Shaanxi Optoelectronic Integrated Circuit Technology Research Institute southern area project will involve the construction of the first domestic services platform for the integrated optoelectronics integration industry -- integrating services for government, industry, studies, research, funding and incubations.

Meanwhile, the Xi'an Gaoke Smart Park project, with a total investment of 650 million yuan, will involve construction of a new base for innovation and entrepreneurship in the XHTZ through the introduction of a headquarter economy, intelligent manufacturing, R & D design and financial services.

In addition, the newly constructed and upgraded park projects in the XHTZ will aim to meet the increasing needs of residents for leisure, entertainment and fitness -- and provide them with comfortable, safe and convenient sports, leisure and recreational places.

Officials said that moving forwards, the XHTZ will make every effort to provide the most favorable and convenient service environment for the construction of new projects, in order to ensure their completion on schedule.
