Xi'an customs acts to streamline key freight train service

In order to support the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, Xi'an customs recently rolled out a series of measures to streamline the development of the China-Europe freight train.

The customs will support the development of multimodal transport services with the freight trains as a key link and allow the freight train service to go through customs there for multi-customs clearances.

As a result of the measures, enterprises can now choose to handle customs clearance procedures for goods on the freight train at Xi'an port. The customs office will provide enterprises with technical support for customs inspections and quarantine and help enterprises cope with restrictive foreign trade measures.

For the food and agricultural products from countries along the lines operating by the freight train, the customs will actively encourage relevant departments speed up the admission process, helping to promote the development of food and agricultural products trade with the countries along the lines.

It will also promote the development of new formats based on the transportation advantages of the freight train, such as imported finished vehicles, cross-border e-commerce and express transportation services.

In addition, it will strengthen the cooperation with customs along the Belt and Road in the country, as well as realize the docking of the freight train with the Maritime Silk Road and the new channel of land and sea trade in West China.

Officials said that, in an effort to streamline cross-border transport facilitation for the freight train, the customs will promote data exchange and information sharing between the customs of countries along the lines operated by service.
