Xi'an, capital of northwestern Shaanxi province, recently established eight taxi teams to provide transport during the battle against the novel coronavirus -- with a total of more than 400 taxis to guarantee the travel of medical staff and provide free shuttle services to and from work.

"The taxi team has established contact with the hospital it is serving and the hospital has also arranged for someone to collect information on car demand," said Liu Wei, a taxi driver with Xi'an Taxi Group.

At present, the taxi teams have served more than 260 medical staff and media reporters travelling to eight hospitals and nine media units.
