Top official inspects Xi'an public health center project

A major inspection of the construction of Xi'an public health center project was carried out on Feb 3 by Wang Hao -- Standing Committee Member of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Xi'an Municipal Committee, according to local officials in the capital of central Shaanxi province.

Covering an area of 33.33 hectares and with a total investment of more than 1.5 billion yuan ($214.93 million), the project is located in the southeast of Gaoling district of Xi'an.

Officials said the facility will be divided into three sections: a temporary rescue hospital, 3A-level comprehensive hospital and the city's disease control center.

After completion, it will become a high-level modern public health institution serving the city.

At present, the foundation construction in some areas has been completed and the installation of the mobile board room in the dormitory of medical staff members has begun.

Wang Hao was briefed on the project planning, the construction of rainwater and sewage pipelines and the pouring of concrete in the section that will become the inpatient department when completed.

The official affirmed the speed of land acquisition, demolition and construction of the project.

He said that it is a necessary project for Xi'an, to build itself into a national central city and an international metropolis. Wang said it was of great significance to improve the level of medical services in the city and contribute to the fight against the novel coronavirus.

He added that it was to be hoped that while ensuring the quality of the project, the first phase of the emergency isolation ward with 500 beds will be constructed at full speed and be put in use in mid-February to ensure the city's epidemic prevention and control work.
