Guangzhou's Huadu district, which is in the midst of constructing an international aviation hub, has devoted efforts to become a comprehensive transportation center integrating aviation and railways in the north of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

A total of 30 projects, worth 64 billion yuan ($9.13 billion yuan), were signed to be located in Huadu district during a news conference held on March 17, including the construction project of turning Guangzhou North Station into a comprehensive transportation hub.

Guangzhou's metro lines 24, 18, and 29 will pass through Guangzhou North Station, while other railway lines, such as the Guangzhou-Qingyuan-Yongzhou high-speed railway, will also be introduced to the station.

It is estimated that the air-rail transportation system in Huadu can serve about 35 percent of the total population in China, covering Central China, Southwest China, and the Pan-Pearl River Delta region.

Currently, Guangzhou is planning to build Terminal 4 of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at the east square of Guangzhou North Station with a special line connecting the station and the airport, allowing efficient and convenient transit for passengers.

Upon completion, it will only take passengers eight minutes to travel from Guangzhou North Station to Terminal 1 and 2 of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.
