Du'an Yao autonomous county in Hechi recently released temporary relief funds to ensure the basic livelihood of people facing difficulties during the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19).

To date, a total of 487,000 yuan ($69,697.86) has been dealt out to 353 people in the county, including 200,500 yuan for 149 low-income people and 226,500 yuan for impoverished people.

Wei Shixing, an impoverished villager from the county's Dongmiao township, received 6,000 yuan in relief funds on March 11. His house was hit by falling rocks amid the epidemic, causing a serious injury to family member Wei Yingrong, creating great difficulties for his family life.

"Thanks to the aid of the county government, my family pulled through," said Wei.

In addition, non-local residents who are staying in the county due to travelling, family visits, or work that are having difficulties in basic living caused by the novel coronavirus can also apply for the relief fund.

To avoid crowd gatherings, the temporary relief fund can only be applied for online.
