Foreign companies in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, are gradually resuming operations with the support of the local government.

As of March 9, a total of 894 foreign enterprises have resumed work, 93.7 percent of all foreign enterprises in the city. Among them, 302 were manufacturing enterprises and 553 were service enterprises, 97.7 percent and 86.9 percent of all such enterprises, respectively.

The Jinan municipal government has also made efforts to help foreign enterprises resume operations. The first batch of 220,000 masks are currently being allocated to foreign-funded enterprises to help them cope with the epidemic.

Special funds were also offered by the local government to foreign enterprises severely affected by the epidemic to encourage them to expand production and increase investment. The maximum award for a single project was increased from 10 million yuan ($1.43 million) to 20 million yuan.

To help workers currently outside the city return to work, the Jinan government also sent chartered buses to many different cities.

Amid the epidemic, the city also found new ways to promote investment, with more than 20 online ceremonies being held through video conferences.

A total of 122 project deals worth 290 billion yuan have been signed in the city, involving two projects of Fortune Global 500 companies.
