Tianfu Mountain Historical and Cultural Block in Lanxi
兰溪市天福山历史文化街区

Lanxi was established as a county more than 1,300 years ago. It then upgraded to a city and has a profound cultural heritage with rich historical relics. In 2000, Lanxi was named a provincial historical and cultural city by the Zhejiang provincial government.

The Tianfu Mountain Historical and Cultural Block is the core of the ancient city protection area of Lanxi, a famous historical and cultural city in central eastern region of Zhejiang province, East China. It covers a land area of 9.23 hectares and is home to 12 cultural relic protection sites, 52 registered immovable cultural relics, nine announced historical buildings and 72 items of intangible culture heritage.

The block's historical remains, landscapes and architecture styles, and spatial form textures are reflected in the city's multiculturalism from the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911) to the Republic of China (1912-49), periods that focused on commercial ports, stores and workshops and traditional residences of ancient merchants throughout eastern China's Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces.

The protection area in ancient Lanxi city includes the old city and the sanjiangkou area, where the Qujiang River, Jinhua River and Lanjiang River meet; it is centered on the three historical and cultural blocks of Tianfu Mountain, Chenghuang Temple and Taohuawu, or Peach Blossom Dock.

The area of cultural relics and historical buildings covers a total of 86,800 square meters, and the cultural relics within occupy 19,556 square meters.
