The Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, located in Baotou city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has been taking great strides in novel coronavirus pneumonia prevention and control with monitoring stations set up in 35 communities in the district, according to a report in the Baotou Daily.

Officials said the district has launched a fast registration system in the communities using QR codes.

Those entering for the first time need to scan the QR code using WeChat and then fill in the information needed, such as the date, their name, ID card number, mobile phone number, traveling information and body temperature. Then then save the information entered and submit it.

From then on, they need only to scan the QR code and fill in the mobile phone number and body temperature to enter the communities.

According to community staff members, the launch of the registration system has greatly reduced the risk of infection and secondary transmission faced by staff members during face-to-face inquiries -- and to a certain extent eased the pressure of personnel at the epidemic monitoring stations.

In addition, the system can also digitize all registration information and community staff members can view the summary of historical records at any time, which facilitates further management of people leaving and entering the communities.
