Ordos city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has issued new measures to promote employment, local officials said.

These will help ensure stable production resume and development of local businesses, according to officials from the city's bureau of human resources and social security, speaking at a news conference on Feb 25.

In order to stabilize and promote employment, 50 percent of the actual unemployment insurance premiums paid the previous year can be refunded, for insured businesses that do not cut their workforce.

From January to the end of March 2020, enterprises that recruit university graduates, people from poor families, migrant workers and other key groups -- signing labor contracts for more than one year and participating in social insurance -- will be given a one-time subsidy of 1,000 yuan ($142.47) for each person they hire.

The city has also organized for vocational skills training institutions and enterprises to carry out training for employees.

At the same time, it will increase support for entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial bases.

Officials said that to ensure epidemic prevention and control, Ordos has postponed the reopening times of technical schools, suspended the exams of governmental institutions, postponed labor arbitration hearing periods, suspended offline recruitment activities and vocational skills competitions, and strictly prevented gatherings of personnel.
