A sanitation worker wearing a mask and black hat reached the hearts of officers at the Kangbashi police substation in the Kangbashi district in Ordos city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, with a touching gesture recently, officials said.

That was after he donated a chunk of his monthly savings to the police to help Wuhan, capital of central Hubei province and epicenter of the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, on Feb 10.

According to Yang Jie, a police officer at Kangbashi police substation, at that time, he was on duty when the sanitation worker strolled in and announced that he wanted to make a donation.

Yang said he then just took out a plastic bag from his pocket, which contained various denominations of cash.

Yang added that, he was so touched that he wanted to register the name of the sanitation worker, but the man turned and left quickly.

Police officers found a written note in the plastic bag, penned by the donor.

It read: "This money is donated tor medical workers in the front line of the epidemic fight in Wuhan. I want to honor all of them and epidemic prevention staff like you, who labor so tirelessly. Wuhan Jiayou! (keep on fighting, Wuhan). From a sanitation worker".
