Peter Nordlinger, an editor with China Daily, donated 10,000 yuan to the China Disabled Persons' Federation to help combat the COVID-19 outbreak.

Peter is a Canadian and has been in Beijing for nine years. Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, he has been following the situation quite closely. "Many people are suffering from it. I wanted to do something," he said.

Peter chose the federation for his donation because he said he has always been very interested in the federation's work and deeply cares about the handicapped people in China.

"(They) have a heavy burden in life anyway and this situation just adds to the burden they carry," he said. Peter's designated donation will be transferred to the Hubei Charity Federation. He hopes it will be used to assist handicapped people or the caregivers who work with them.

Peter also expressed strong confidence and hope for Wuhan city, the provincial capital of Hubei and the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak in China.

"Wuhan has a very long history. A hundred years from now, Wuhan will be strong, vibrant and healthy. They should focus on that future," he said. "Wuhan Jiayou! (Wuhan fighting!)"
