Feb 20: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 19, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland as well as the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps reported 394 new cases of confirmed infections, 1,277 new cases of suspected infections, and 114 deaths (108 in Hubei province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Shanghai, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Yunnan province, and 1 in Shaanxi province). 1,779 patients were released from hospitals after being cured. 25,318 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 113.

As of 24:00 on Feb 19, the National Health Commission had received 74,576 reports of confirmed cases (reduced by 1 by Jiangxi province, 1 by Henan province and 1 by Yunnan province after verification) and 2,118 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 16,155 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 56,303 confirmed cases (including 11,864 in serious condition) and 4,922 suspected cases. So far, 589,163 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 126,363 are now under medical observation.

On Feb 19, Hubei reported 349 new cases of confirmed infections, 880 new cases of suspected infections (including 483 in Wuhan), and 108 deaths (including 88 in Wuhan). 1,209 patients were released from hospitals after being cured, including 553 in Wuhan.

615 new confirmed cases were reported by Wuhan and 13 more by four other cities including Xiantao, but the provincial total was reduced by 279 by 10 cities and prefecture including Jingmen and Xianning that subtracted clinical cases showing negative results in nucleic acid tests from cases initially confirmed through comprehensive analysis.

As of 24:00 on Feb 19, Hubei had reported 62,031 cases of confirmed infections (including 45,027 in Wuhan) and 2,029 deaths (including 1,585 in Wuhan). In all, 10,337 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital, including 5,448 in Wuhan. There still remained 49,665 confirmed cases (including 37,994 in Wuhan), with 11,178 in serious condition (including 9,689 in Wuhan), and 3,456 suspected cases (including 1,940 in Wuhan).

As of 24:00 on Feb 19, 99 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 65 in Hong Kong (2 had been dead and 5 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 10 in Macao (6 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 24 in Taiwan (1 had been dead and 2 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
