Cultural enterprises in Pudong support fight against virus

Several leading cultural enterprises in Pudong New Area are taking advantage of their strong position to inspire courage amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.

China Literature, a local digital reading platform, launched a writing competition on Feb 9 themed around the phrase "Our Strength." Its goal is to collect moving stories of ordinary people fighting against the virus.

More than 4,100 writers have participated in the competition, submitting a variety of literary works, including both realistic and fantasy novels.

A writer from Shandong province wrote a novel entitledHello, Ordinary People, which tells the stories of several ordinary people, including a couple whose wedding was affected by the sudden outbreak, a restaurant owner, a traffic cop, and an infected patient.

The novel now has 14 chapters and around 27,000 words. It is expected to be finished in March.

Himalaya, a famous local audio sharing platform, collected audio from Chinese podcasters to share touching stories related to the epidemic. More than 30 podcasters have submitted their works, which revolve around the experiences of ordinary citizens, doctors, patients, and volunteers.

The podcasters include one in Canada who tells stories about how overseas Chinese are helping each other and donating to China, another who shared personal experiences during the SARS outbreak, and two who discuss psychology in order to help people deal with the outbreak emotionally.
