As a financial center of the southwest region, Chengdu has the largest range, the largest number, and the highest openness of financial institutions in western China. In 2018, the overall competitiveness of Chengdu's financial industry ranked first in the Midwest and sixth in China. The added value of Chengdu’s financial industry reached 175 billion yuan ($25.09 billion).
Chengdu is building a large financial organization system with the most active trade; a service system with the best services and the most complete infrastructure; and a financial talent system with the highest number of skilled workers in the western region. The five core functions, including capital market, wealth management, settlement center, venture capital financing, and new-type finance, are continuously enhanced.
