A celebration of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Shanghai Caohejing Hi-Tech Park Haining Sub-Zone was held in Haining, Zhejiang province on Dec 17.

The Haining government and the Shanghai Caohejing Hi-Tech Park Corporation signed an agreement to deepen their cooperation. Twelve projects were signed off at the meeting and will be developed in Haining, including a project worth a whopping 10 billion yuan ($1.43 billion).

The Haining sub-zone is the first cross-regional development zone co-built by Shanghai and Zhejiang. It was included in the Yangtze River Delta Integrated Development Plan released in December.

The sub-zone now houses many industry-leading and high-tech companies from France, Japan, Germany and other countries, and one third of the companies in the zone are from Shanghai. A pan semiconductor industrial park worth over 10 billion yuan has introduced 19 high-quality projects since it began construction in early 2017.

"The zone has become an important platform for coordinated industrial development between Shanghai and Zhejiang, and has enhanced its global influence by building a Sino-French cooperation park and a Sino-German innovation center," said Hu Ying, president of the Haining Sub-Zone Corporation.

"Our cooperation with Caohejing Hi-Tech Park has inspired our development and driven our economic transformation," said Zhu Jianjun, Party chief of Haining, who expressed hope that the Haining Sub-Zone will be built into a national development zone.

In addition to Shanghai, Haining has also been strengthening cooperation with Hangzhou in recent years to enhance its role in the YRD integration.

It has been building a new zone at its border with Hangzhou. The Hangzhou Qiantang New Zone signed an agreement with Haining in October to include the Hangzhou-Haining New Zone in its development plan.
