The total number of robots used in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone – also known as the WHDZ -- is about 3,500, and the density of robots is up to 100 per 10,000 people. This is higher than the national average level, but it is quite far away from the level in developed countries. In order to bridge the gap, the district is preparing to build a robot town, in which the R & D area is located in the Smart Ecological City and the manufacturing area is located in the Navigation Industrial Park.
The global robot market was worth only160 billion yuan ($22.6 billion) last year but is expected to reach 240 billion yuan by 2020. According to the plan of the WHDZ, the annual output value of robot industry will reach 10 billion yuan by 2020, 30 billion yuan by 2022 and 50 billion yuan by 2025.
As the main battleground for Wuhan’s industrial economic development, WHDZ not only provides a strong industrial foundation for robot development, but also provides an applications market for robot products in the auto industry, as well as the home appliances industry and other industries.
Experts say that in the future, intelligent service robots will undoubtedly be more "user-friendly ". WHDZ is negotiating with a company that produces educational and training robots and will be able to provide robot tutoring and homework supervision for children in the future.
