A cultural relic exhibition themed on Hongshan Culture will open at the Liaoning Provincial Museum in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, on Oct 16, according to the local authorities.

Hongshan Culture, which can be dated back more than 5,000 years, originated from south central part of Inner Mongolia autonomous region and the western part of Northeast China.

Experts say it is one of the important cultures in studying the process of civilization in the western part of Liaoning province and the origin of Chinese civilization.

They say it is also the most distinctive regional culture of Liaoning, boasting international influence in prehistory studies.

The exhibition is being hosted by the Liaoning cultural heritage administration, Liaoning Cultural Performing Arts Group and the Inner Mongolia cultural heritage administration.

A total of 246 relics will be on display, including stoneware, pottery and jade ware -- 98 items of which are being borrowed for the exhibition from Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin and other provinces.

The exhibits will be displayed in four parts, which comprehensively recount the history and evolution of Hongshan Culture.

Organizers said that academic forums on Hongshan Culture will be held, as well as various hands-on experience activities, to help visitors know more about the culture.
