Xi'an and Sanmenxia join hands in business

An economic forum was held in Xi'an, Shaanxi province on Jan 21 to further develop business relations between Xi'an and Sanmenxia, Henan province.

Hosted by both the Xi'an and Sanmenxia Federations of Industry and Commerce, the forum attracted over 500 participants, including representatives from the host federations, municipal government officials, economic experts and entrepreneurs from both cities.

Zhang Baotong, a renowned economist and researcher at Shaanxi Academy of Social Sciences, said during a speech that Xi'an and Sanmenxia, with their tremendous business opportunities, are set to play a crucial role in the economic cooperation and exchange between Asia and Europe espoused by the Belt and Road Initiative.

He Lin, president of the Sanmenxia chamber of commerce in Xi'an, the organizer of the event, credited the success of the forum to unyielding support from the municipal governments and federations. The chamber plans to continue its role as a facilitator of bilateral exchange and cooperation.

The Sanmenxia chamber of commerce in Xi'an was established in 2013 to help develop business relations between the two cities.

Officials of commerce from both sides introduced their respective business environments and related projects after Li Lin, president of the Sanmenxia Federation of Industry and Commerce, made the opening remarks.
