The Ministry of Civil Affairs will tighten its issuance of the China Charity Award, and those with records of illegal activities or charity fraud will be excluded from the honor list, Li Bo, a senior official with the ministry said.

Li told a news conference on Monday that the award will not be given to those who cheat their personal information and online polls, nor to those in charge of charitable organizations that are on the blacklist of the ministry’s credit system.

It was the first time the ministry clarified situations under which individuals, enterprises or groups would be banned from award candidate selection.

The China Charity Award is the highest charity award given by the Chinese government. Since its establishment in 2005, the awards have been given to 1,005 individuals, enterprises and charitable trusts, Li added.
