Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings Limited, a company integrating the research, manufacturing and trading of medicine, has signed with Fortune to become a premier cooperative partner of the Fortune Global Technology Forum.

The Fortune Global Technology Forum, which will be held on Nov 7-8 in Guangzhou, the capital of South China's Guangdong province, will bring together top executives from Fortune 500 companies, the founders of some of the world's most promising startups, and venture capital investors inside and outside China.

The forum will highlight innovation and the opportunities and challenges posed by new technologies, according to Clay Chandler, executive editor international of Time Inc.

"We'll be talking about advances in artificial intelligence, 5G, big data, cloud computing and the impact of new technologies in fields, including finance, health care, transportation, travel and commerce," Chandler said.

During the forum, Fortune also will host its Fortune China Innovation Awards, recognizing outstanding Chinese startups in a variety of fields.

"Guangzhou's rising tech sector, proximity to global supply chains, reliable infrastructure, highly educated workforce, and long history as a gateway between China and the West makes it an ideal venue for such a gathering," Chandler said.

According to Guangzhou government, the city has more than 200,000 small and medium-sized technology companies, with the number of hi-tech companies reaching 11,000.

Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings Limited, which focuses on research and development of traditional Chinese medicine, realized a year-on-year sales revue growth of 13 percent to 116 billion yuan ($16.42 billion) in 2018.
