Yunnan University of Chinese Medicine, established in 1960 in Kunming, was approved to confer master's and doctoral degrees in 1986 and 2018.
By the end of April 2019, the university had 11,342 students, including 9,951 undergraduates and 232 international students. The university has opened 11 second-class colleges and 27 undergraduate majors, with two listed as national distinctive majors and five as provincial distinctive majors.
The university's library has 980,596 paper books, 3.23 million electronic books, 18,000 thread-bound ancient books, 384 kinds of printed journals and 52 databases in Chinese and foreign languages.
The university has 741 professional staff members, including 17 doctoral supervisors and seven experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council.
The university has carried out international cooperation and communication with over 30 countries and regions such as the United States, Australia, France, Germany, Canada, South Korean, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia.
