Zhanjiang athletes win initial success in National Youth Games

A number of athletes from Zhanjiang, Guangdong province has gotten off to a good start in part of the competitions of the 2nd Youth Games of the People's Republic of China (National Youth Games), the largest sporting event this year to be held in Taiyuan, Shanxi province from Aug 8 to 18.

Many Zhanjiang athletes were selected as members of the Guangdong delegation, including contestants from Zhanjiang Sports School and Zhanjiang Shaolin Kung Fu School, participating in karate, judo, diving, and tennis competitions. 

Zhanjiang athletes have won gold medals in part of competitions of the National Youth Games that were held in advance. Liang Tao, Luo Haoxian, Hong Miaoxin, and Wu Chengxiang won the championships in different levels of karate.

This year, the Guangdong delegation selected a total of 3,188 athletes from 28 sports schools and 87 social sports clubs. They will participate in 37 summer events, four winter events, and four all-round events.
