Chengdu No 3 People's Hospital, founded in July 1941, is now a national 3A-grade hospital that provides medical treatment, scientific research, teaching and training, disease prevention and rehabilitation.
Covering an area of 138 mu (9.2 hectares), the hospital has 1,250 patient beds. Its annual outpatient amount exceeds 1.36 million person-times, while the annul number of patients hospitalized is more than 58,000.
There are 2,498 staff members at the hospital, 19 of whom receive special allowances awarded by the State Council, or the provincial and municipal governments.
The hospital has six provincial-level key disciplines and four provincial key specialties, as well as 23 city-level control centers for medical treatment quality, half of the city's total. It also runs four research institutions for cardiovascular disease, nerve disease, respiratory health and tumors.
Being an affiliated hospital to Southwest Jiaotong University and an indirectly affiliated teaching hospital to Southwest Medical Hospital, the hospital has 42 national or provincial-level standardized training bases for resident doctors.
