A total of 36 works will be exhibited in Australia during the 2019 Jiangnan Wuxi Painting and Photography Exhibition on July 8.

Sponsored by the Australia China Economic Trade Promotion (ACETP) Association Inc, the exhibition was organized for the ACETP 2019 "Light of Charity" Serial Public Welfare Event, and aims to build a bridge between China and Australia and deepen mutual understanding through the universal language of art.

The 36 works to be exhibited include traditional Chinese paintings, oil paintings, engravings and calligraphy works. They were made by nine artists from the Wuxi Painting and Calligraphy Academy, including its former president Wang Yang.

The Wuxi Painting and Calligraphy Academy, built in 1979, has been developed by a number of talented artists into an academic highland of contemporary Chinese painting and calligraphy.

Located in the hinterlands south of the Yangtze River in China, Wuxi enjoys a reputation as the Pearl of Taihu Lake and has nourished generations of painters and calligraphers, including Gu Kaizhi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420) as well as contemporary artists such as Xu Beihong and Wu Guanzhong.
