China Giant Panda International Image Design Global Competition revealed the award-winning work on Wednesday in Beijing. The image of a giant panda named A Pu, whose Chinese meaning is raw jade, has won most votes in the competition and becomes the first official international image of the giant panda.
Launched in February, the design competition, which was jointly organized by the China International Communication Center and China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda, received 2,023 works from 22 countries.
Giant pandas have been part of China's diplomacy and symbols of China's friendly relationship with other countries.
According to the organizers, the award-winning design work fits the theme of "China Giant Panda, World New Youth", which demonstrates the vigorous, optimistic and confident outlook of young Chinese.
It is expected that the image of A Pu will help promote communication between China and the world.
In the future, the image of A Pu will be widely used in international communications as a means to promote Chinese culture.
