Ordos holds power walk for World Environment Day

The city of Ordos in Inner Mongolia autonomous region organized a bike race as well as a power walk in its Kangbashi district on June 5, to mark World Environment Day.

The activity also marked the start of a month-long campaign in Ordos to call on more citizens to join efforts to protect the environment. 

More than 1,500 participants from over 50 organizations, institutes and companies in the city joined the cycling race and power walk.

Before the start of the activity, five organizations and firms in Ordos were awarded with the title “Base for Environmental Education” for their effective promotion of environmental preservation awareness.

The five organizations were the Children’s Palace in Kangbashi district, Dalad Banner Xinchuang Resources Recycling Co, Dongsheng No 4 Primary School, Ordos Engebei Ecological Demonstration Zone and Ejin Horoo Banner division in the Ordos Bureau of Ecological Environment. 

An old books-for-potted plants swap also took place, and brochures were handed out to the participants of the event to promote the need to protect the environment. 

Sponsored by the Ordos publicity department, the Ordos civil civilization authority, the Ordos Bureau of Ecological Environment – as well as the Ordos committee of the Communist Youth League, the Ordos Customs, the government of Kangbashi district and the Ordos Association for Ecological Civilization Promotion – the bike race and power walk was organized by the Kangbashi division of the Ordos Bureau of Ecological Environment.
