Dragon boat race kicks off in Suixi, Zhanjiang

Six dragon boat teams engaged in fierce competition at the 35th Yugang Dragon Boat Race held in Jianghong town, Suixi county, Zhanjiang on June 7. Teams competed in male and female categories, in a race with a total length of one kilometer. 

Jianghong town has a long history of dragon boat races, which was formed more than 100 years ago. In recent years, the government has combined the dragon boat race with cultural construction and efforts to create a harmonious society, which has made the dragon boat cultural activities well developed and full of tradition. 

In addition to the dragon boat race, several activities were also carried out on the shore, such as calligraphy and painting exhibitions, photography contests, lion dance performances, cultural shows, and product promotions. The dragon boat culture has promoted the development of the local economy and showcased the unique charm of Jianghong town.

A leader of Jianghong town said that the success of 35 consecutive sessions of the dragon boat race is not only an important part of the Dragon Boat Festival, but also a characteristic brand activity of Jianghong's sports culture and folk culture.
