China Railway Harbin Co will add 15 trains to popular tourism destinations and neighboring cities to cope with the Dragon Boat Festival holiday travel rush from June 6 to 9.

The services are mainly targeted at university students, short-distance tourists, and people visiting relatives.

The additional trains include high-speed trains running from Harbin to Beijing, Dalian, and Qiqihar, as well as slow trains to Manzhouli, Jiamusi, Mudanjiang, Zhalantun, Suihua, Fuyuan, and Qitaihe.

In addition, three special “gaokao” trains will be offered for students participating in the gaokao (China’s university entrance examination) in Alihe.

Train stations under the jurisdiction of the Harbin Railway Bureau are anticipated to accommodate approximately 1.47 million passengers over the three-day period, with a passenger flow of around 368,000 passengers per day, an increase of 4.4 percent over ordinary days.

Passenger flow is expected to peak on June 7 and 9.
