Intelligent offshore fish cage launched in Shengsi county

A hexagonal-prism-shaped intelligent offshore fish cage is launched in the sea area of Shengsi county in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province. [Photo/zj.zjol.com] 

Shenghai No 1, the first large-scale intelligent offshore fish cage in Zhejiang province, was recently launched in the sea area of Shengsi county in Zhoushan.

The cage is built by Huaniao township for cultivating large yellow croakers in deep sea. It is shaped as a hexagonal prism and is 116 meters long and 22 meters tall. 

Sea farming is a pillar industry of the county, generating 20 percent of the total output of local fishing industry while also being the main source of income for local residents.
