Xi’an City Wall International Marathon
The Xi’an City Wall International Marathon is the only event of its kind in the world that sets the race track on an ancient city wall. The event has been held every April since 1993, and this year's event started April 20 and was sponsored by the Chinese Athletic Association, the Shaanxi provincial sports bureau and the Xi'an municipal government. More than 5,000 runners from 28 countries and regions took part.
Positioned as a name card of Xi’an, the event was selected on the list of the Belt and Road Shaanxi 2019 Sports Boutique Events. It offers participants a platform that showcases the rich historic culture of Xi'an, one of the great ancient capitals, standing alongside Rome, Athens and Cairo in size and significance.
