The Yangtze River Delta Auto Industry Alliance was inaugurated in Jiading district of Shanghai on May 18.

The alliance, co-founded by Taicang, Jiading, Kunshan in Jiangsu province and Pinghu, Wenzhou in Zhejiang province, brings together relevant government agencies, universities, research institutes and social organizations in the YRD region, including 18 businesses from Taicang.

The alliance will promote the pilot demonstration of intelligent connected vehicles (ICV) and hydrogen fuel-cell powered vehicles, explore the operation mode of big data integration, and offer the auto industry more innovative talents.

In recent years, the auto parts industry in Taicang has seen rapid development. To date, the city has housed roughly 200 core auto parts manufacturing businesses, including suppliers of small-displacement engines, auto sound systems, clutches and reduction gears.

According to a spokesperson for the Taicang Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, the city plans to attract more new energy and ICV sectors related businesses from the YRD region and nurture more competitive local companies.

He added that Taicang will take further advantage of the Taicang port, its comprehensive bonded zone and the Taicang Senmao International Automobile City to grow into a distributing center of auto parts logistics and aftermarket service in Eastern China.
