A delegation of 36 residents from a township in Taiwan visited Jinjishan community in New Town, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, on May 15, to experience the local community life.
Their trip to Jinjishan marked the opening of the 2019 Zhejiang-Taiwan Neighbourhood Festival Zhoushan Session, which is held to enhance cross-Straits people-to-people exchanges and friendship.
The delegation was impressed by the local folk handicrafts such as paper-cuts, and tried their hands on creating them. They also shared their family stories with local residents.

Jinjishan community is one of the city's pilot areas for its community improvement project. It provides thorough services for local residents through a complete set of facilities such as an elderly care center, a gym, and a library.
"The community service center here is well-appointed, and people here seem to live happy lives," said an elderly Taiwan resident, adding that Taiwan can learn a lot from Zhoushan's community construction.
During the five-day visit, the delegation will also visit several communities in Dinghai and Putuo districts to exchange experiences in community management and other areas.
