A suite of 75 measures, targeted at promoting economic and cultural communications between Shenyang and Taiwan, were recently launched by the government of Shenyang.

Under the initiative, the government will provide policies and subsidy support for people from Taiwan planning to invest, study, work and start businesses in Shenyang.

To encourage Taiwan businesspeople to invest in there, the government will provide a maximum of 10 million yuan ($1.48 million) for Taiwan-funded companies registered and established in the city.

Meanwhile, it will offer 4 million yuan in subsidies for Taiwan-funded enterprises that have initial public offerings and whose shares are listed in Shenyang.

For firms of a given size, small and medium-sized science and tech companies, and key leading enterprises involved with agricultural industrialization – which are listed on the Liaoning Equity Exchange Center -- the Shenyang government will offer a one-time subsidy of 200,000 yuan.

Shenyang has also moved to support the growth and expansion of Taiwan-funded small-scale commercial enterprises. Officials said that for the first time, wholesale companies whose annual business income tops 20 million yuan, retailers with incomes above 5 million yuan and catering and accommodation groups bringing in more than 2 million yuan annually, will be given a one-time grant of 50,000 yuan.

Additionally, the government will offer rental subsidies to Taiwan university graduates who work and settle in Shenyang. Graduates holding a bachelor's degree, a master's degree and those with doctorates will receive subsidies of 500 yuan, 850 yuan and 1,250 yuan per month respectively. The subsidy will last two years.
