Hohhot airport sees surge in traffic

Total passenger traffic at Hohhot Baitai International Airport amounted to 146,857 people this year during the May Day holiday, which lasted from May 1-4.

The number of take-offs and landings totaled 1,244 flights, with the daily average of flights coming in at 311.

Officials said that May 1 was the peak day at the airport during the four-day holiday, with some 38,467 passengers passing through.

Cargo throughput at the airport during the holiday amounted to 302.1 metric tons.

Based on traffic statistics from local authority, most of its holiday traffic came from passengers traveling to Beijing, Shanghai, Tongliao, Chifeng and Hailaar.
