The Chinese Fencing Club League is one of the most extensive, influential and highly visible fencing competitions in China. The competition has been successfully held for 10 years.

This year it focused on promoting the development of fencing in Nansha and increasing the popularity of the sport among young people.

The competition is divided into five groups: U10, U12, U14, U16, and 17+. Foil, epee and sword fencing competitions are all on offer. More than 2,000 athletes came to Nansha to compete for individual and team champions and qualification in the National Fencing Club League.

A staff member in charge of Nansha's tourism affairs said that the district has made efforts to introduce social forces to hold sports meets, focusing on creating a number of international events such as sailing regattas.

It will also continue to support the development of fencing, which is expected to become another sports card in the district, he added.

Statistics showed that this year the tourist attractions in Nansha district received a total of 575,900 tourists during the May Day holiday, an increase of 11.9 percent over its last year's 514,500 visitors.
