Wuxi to strengthen industry-university-research cooperation

Wuxi Scientific and Technological Achievements Fair on Industry-University-Research Cooperation was held on May 6, as an important part of the 2019 Wuxi Conference of Talents and Innovation.

The fair aimed at promoting in-depth integration and transformation of scientific and technological achievements in Wuxi, and helping integrative development of scientific and technological innovation in the Yangtze River Delta region.

More than 300 people, including representatives of nearly 50 global universities and research institutes attended the fair.

Wuxi Party Secretary Li Xiaomin and other guests inspected some major achievements of industry-university-research cooperation, including Roboway, a delivery robot developed by Wuxi Institute of Fudan University, before the fair.

Wuxi has been implementing an innovation-driven development strategy in recent years and a large number of industry-university-research innovation carriers have emerged and are now playing an important role in promoting resource agglomeration, industry-university-research cooperation and transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the city.

Two newly-found scientific and technological innovation carriers were unveiled during the fair - the Wuxi Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base and the Gas Turbine Maintenance Engineering Technology Center of the Wuxi Research Institute of Applied Technologies, Tsinghua University.

Fifty-five industry-university-research cooperation projects, including three international ones, with a contract value of nearly 160 million yuan ($23.65 million) were signed at the fair.

Six specialists and scholars from home and abroad delivered keynote speeches, including Wong Ching-Ping, academician of the United States National Academy of Engineering, Nechyporuk Mykola, president of the Kharkov National University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and David Levy, professor of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
