Hohhot, located in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, received 1.63 million visitors during the first two days of the May Day holiday, which lasted from May 1-4 this year.

The visitors brought in an estimated 816 million yuan ($121.18 million) of tourism revenue to Hohhot.

According to the capital's authorities, the city saw 665,000 visitors on May 1, a year-on-year increase of 19.6 percent. In addition, visitor numbers surged to 969,900 on May 2, up 16.29 percent year-on-year.

To deal with reported irregularities in the tourism industry, the local government conducted inspections throughout the city.

As of May 2, more than 20 tourist complaints had been handled.
