Ordos to establish advisory body for desertification control

The city of Ordos plans to introduce an advisory body to provide informational services on preventing desertification in Inner Mongolia autonomous region. 

A panel of experts gathered in Hohhot, capital of the region, on April 26 to discuss specifics.

The meeting’s attendees came from a variety of institutions, including the Inner Mongolia Forestry and Grassland Bureau, the China Economic Information Service of Xinhua News Agency, the China Society of Sand Control and Sand Industry, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Beijing Forestry University, and Inner Mongolia Agricultural University.

According to a news release during the meeting, an advisory body on sand control will be established on May 15 in Ejin Horoo Banner, a place renowned for its success in combating desertification. 

The body will use a series of technical measures to systematically and comprehensively evaluate the current state of desertification control in the region. 

The institute plans to publicize data and share it with the rest of the world.
