Daishan county in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province made remarkable economic achievements in the first quarter of the year, according to the local development and reform department.

The county ranked first in the city in terms of growth in four indices – GDP, industrial value added, total retail sales of consumer goods, and per capita disposable income of urban residents. It also ranked first in the actual inflow of funds from outside the city.

Specifically, Daishan recorded 3.98 billion yuan ($591.14 million) of GDP during the period, up 8.2 percent year on year. Companies with annual revenue of 20 million yuan realized industrial output of 866 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.2 percent.

Per capita disposable income of urban residents reached 16,049 yuan, up 9.1 percent from a year earlier, which partially contributed to the 8.8 percent growth in total retail sales of consumer goods, at 2.29 billion yuan.

In terms of investment, Daishan saw fixed asset investment of 6.38 billion yuan, up 14.9 percent, mostly driven by the construction of the Green Petrochemical Base, which took up 88.3 percent of the total investment.

The county also arranged 52 key projects at county, city and provincial levels to be carried out this year, with the total annual planned investment amount topping 116 billion yuan.
