Experts hammer out ideas for tourism development

Leaders of the Lushunkou Party Committee and People's Government had a productive meeting on April 21 with representatives from a broad range of fields who came to participate in a cultural tourism investment fair at Lushunkou, Dalian, a city in North China's Liaoning province.

At the meeting, Zhao Hongwei, the secretary of Lushunkou District Party Committee, presented the development strategy for holistic tourism -- a new trend in alternative tourism promoting spiritual harmony -- being implemented in the city.

Holistic tourists seek programs and experiences that would allow them to achieve balance between mind, body and soul. Choosing holistic tourism means that a tourist can enjoy a different and full experience which goes beyond the simple contact with cultures, people, places or landscapes. It focuses on self-transformation and on an attempt of people understanding more about themselves.

Zhao expressed his hope that delegates would put forward their opinions and suggestions on the development of holistic tourism and the cultural creative industry, and invest in Lushunkou's holistic tourism.

A total of 67 experts from the fields of holistic tourism – including the cultural creative industry, the media, and the finance, industry and agricultural sectors -- showed great interest in prospects for the city's holistic tourism sector.

Organizers said they expressed their desire to cooperate in many fields in combination with their respective resources and platforms.
