Putuo Bay Maker Space in Putuo district, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, was listed on China's fourth batch of national startup incubation demonstration bases, according to a recent announcement made by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.
It is the only one in Zhoushan and one of only two in Zhejiang province to win the honor.
The maker space focuses on encouraging and supporting the entrepreneurial activities of college graduates, providing them with one-stop services during the startup process, including policy guidance, training, funding and office space.
Putuo Bay has all the facilities we need with which to start a business; it is hugely convenient, said Li Hongbin, a young entrepreneur who left Alibaba in Dec 2017. Li went on to establish a network technology company in Putuo Bay with six teammates.
Li highlighted that the maker space not only provides rent-free offices for three years, but also invites financial and legal experts to give training sessions on a regular basis, and improves entrepreneurs' business skills by organizing competitions and seminars.
Covering an area measuring 31,000 square meters, Putuo Bay now houses around 237 companies and more than 1,000 entrepreneurs, generating over 2,700 jobs for local residents.
