Stalagmite, a kind of lime stone originating from Changshan, a county in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, will be showcased at the upcoming Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition, local media reported on April 18.

According to the requirements of the event's organizing committee, all provinces, cities and autonomous regions in China are required to send over a landscape stone with their own features to construct a Chinese Garden for the exhibition.

The Zhejiang stone selected by the provincial government is the stalagmite.

At 3.6 meters tall, the Changshan stone is the highest point at the Chinese Garden.

Changshan county is renowned for mountains and various rare stones.

In addition to its famous 10 kinds of stones, the county is also home to the first Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP) in China identified by the International Union of Geological Sciences.
