Yangzhou bids for 2022 World Half Marathon Championships

Yangzhou in East China's Jiangsu province has formally placed its bid to the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) for the chance to host the 2022 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, according to Shui Tao, deputy secretary of the China Athletics Association, at a press conference on April 12.

"The IAAF World Half Marathon Championships represents the highest standard of in the world when it comes to half marathons. Yangzhou is qualified to host the championships due to its experience in holding international competitions," said Shui.

The Yangzhou Jianzhen International Half Marathon, which will kick off on April 21 this year, is an IAAF Gold Label Road Race, and was named a gold label event by the Chinese Athletics Association Marathon on March 11 this year.

About 35,000 runners from more than 40 countries and regions will take part in the event, including over 100 professional athletes from home and abroad.

In addition to experiencing the friendly competition and beautiful scenery, the application of big data and intelligent technology will provide exemplary services to participants.

This year's competition will launch a visual intelligent management platform to manage the event through event monitoring, early warning, analysis, decision-making, command and evaluation.
