Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, founded in 1892, the affiliated hospital of Nanjing University Medical School, was one of the first Western medical hospitals in China.

Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital has 1,460 patient beds and over 2,000 staff members.

The hospital manages two clinical colleges, 32 clinical departments, 32 medical technical sections, and 21 special research sections and laboratories. Its noted advanced-level departments include: anesthesiology, cardiology, cardio-thoracic, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology, hepatobiliary surgery, immunology, obstetrics and gynecology, oncology, orthopedics, pathology, respiratory, spine surgery and urology.

Serving as a major national medical, academic and research center, the hospital provides advanced equipment for patient healthcare services, including PET, ECT, MRI, DSA, whole-body CT 1250mA X-ray, EEG Mapping, electronic gastroscope, color Doppler ultrasonic cardio-dynamic apparatus, central monitoring devices, automatic biochemical analyzers, and a multiple-function color Doppler diagnostic apparatus.

The hospital has maintained active international programming with numerous academic exchanges and cooperative research programs with international colleagues and medical venues in countries and regions such as the United States, Japan, Australia, Germany, Canada and Hong Kong.
