Foreign tradesmen gather to give handy guidance for Shenyang

A launching ceremony for Shenyang Office of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China was held on March 28, with the attendance of hundreds of representatives from foreign-invested enterprises in Shenyang.

Foreign representatives mainly held discussions on the topics of enhancing Shenyang's regional development and attractiveness. They expressed affirmation of the changes and improvements that Shenyang has made, and put forward suggestions on encouraging the development of new energy industry, as well as stimulating the upgrading of tourism industry and promoting the establishment of international schools.

Harald Kumpfert, chairman of European Chamber Shenyang Office, believes that the new energy industry has great potential and will benefit the region both environmentally and economically. "European companies see huge potential in Shenyang, which is not only reflected in automobile manufacturing and environmental protection, but also in tourism, renewable energy, industrial landscape, 3D, artificial intelligence, and robotics," he added.

As tourist economy has been a hot spot of concern engaged in the catering industry, Martin Verpoorten, general manager of Sofitel Shenyang Lido Hotel, presented his own views on Shenyang's tourism industry. He insisted that Shenyang should attract more tourists through more participation in large-scale international and domestic activities, with traditional day trips packaged as high-end ones.

In regards to the educational field, Alan Norman, headmaster of Canadian International School of Shenyang, also put forward his own proposals stating that more international schools should be set up in Shenyang to improve the quality of education for the children of foreign employees so that attracting more foreigners to work in Shenyang.

Hermann Stoegmeier, vice-president of planning in Brilliance Auto Group, also raised suggestions on strengthening the cultural publicity of Shenyang across the world, especially the intangible cultural heritage resources, as the city has a variety of historical museums and intangible cultural heritages.
