The first subway cars produced for Hohhot subway line 1 were unveiled at Hohhot Sanjianfang train base, in the capital of northern China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on April 4.

According to local media reports, the new metro train has a top speed of 80 kilometers per hour and a maximum passenger capacity of 2,062.

In response to the region's climate, which can experience large differences in temperature, air conditioning units in the subway have adopted advanced technologies to adjust to real time temperatures. The air volumes from the air conditioners can be adjusted according to real-time passenger capacity. This provides for a better experience for passengers, but also saves about 20 percent in energy consumption.

The exterior of the subway train has been painted white and blue, with traditional Mongolian designs on the doors. The interior green floor and cow patterns inside the subway cars also reflect the region's characteristics.
