Sunan Shuofang International Airport started operating its summer-autumn flight timetable on March 31.

The airport expects to handle flights serving a total of 43 destinations during this period, with 10 services flying to foreign airports and 33 flying domestic routes.

On average, 168 aircraft movements are expected to take place each day.

Passengers heading out of Chinese mainland are advised to check-in at least 100 minutes before their flight is due to depart, with check-in counters closing 40 minutes prior to departure. Ideally, travelers should arrive at least two hours before departure to ensure enough time to complete all pre-flight procedures.

On the new timetable, increased numbers of flights will serve cities such as Macao, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Chengdu and Changsha. And the number of daily flights heading to Guangzhou and Shenzhen will now total between 10 and 12. Six daily flights are set to serve Chengdu and Kunming, five to Chongqing and four to Xi'an. In addition, three flights per day will serve Beijing, Changsha, Macao and Shenyang.

New routes are now being launched as part of the new schedule, with flights serving Fuzhou, Changbaishan, Yanji, Lijiang, Guilin and Zhanjiang.

And for passengers looking for value travel, a new route has been launched by 9 Air, a budget airline created as a subsidiary of Juneyao Airlines in 2014. With flights starting from just 459 yuan ($68.32), it flies to Yanji in Jilin's Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

The new route also means passengers now no longer need to take a connecting flight to reach Yanji, which previously took at least six hours.

In addition, a flight between Wuxi and Yanji stopping in Shenyang will be launched on April 2, with flights expected to operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays –– with prices starting from just 419 yuan.

With various national holidays approaching over the next couple of months, it is clear that Wuxi airport now offers passengers a competitive range of travel options.
